The Computational Physics Seminar of 2001.

The following list is an overview of the topics treated during the first Computational Pyhsics seminar at the Depratment of Physics at the University of Dortmund. The seminar was hosted by Prof. Dr. Emmanuel Paschos and Dr. Ali-Reza Samanpour with kind and patient support by Ms. Yu and Mr Roederjohann.

The materials produced by the students for their seminar talks are partly available in various formats (we apologize for any inconveniece this may cause to the reader of our pages; we are trying to unify the formats offered). Part of the seminar talks is ava ilable in html-format produced with latex2html and is therfore browseable. Our aim is to put all of the materials from future seminars on the web in this form, and in postscript.

If you have any trouble viewing postscript or pdf-format files, please go to one of the following sites and download the viewing software for free:

  • For viewing postcript files, please download the aladdin ghostview package from http://www.aladdin.com.
  • For viewing pdf files, we suggest going to the Adobe page and downloading their Acrobat Reader.

The Topics Treated during the Seminar of Summer 2001:

The downloads will be available, soon.
  • Overview of programming languages (C/C++, Fortran and Mathematica) (German language only).
  • Plain Trajectories Treated by Means of Complex Figures. Place, Displacement and Acceleration.
  • Quantum Mechanics: Discretizing the Harmonic Oscillator. (With sample Mathematica Code).
  • The Runge-Kutta Algorithms.
  • Nonlinear Dynamics. (With sample program for X-windows surfaces, Sorry, Windows-Users ;-) ).
  • Simplified Three-Body Problem. (With sample code in C, output to a file for processing with gnuplot or origin.)
  • Markovian Processes.
  • Pion-Diffusion in Nuclei by Means of MonteCarlo Integration.
